Our Precious Boy

Our sweet, beautiful boy died in our arms this evening.  He fought so bravely but his illness was just too much for his tiny body to cope with.  Karin and I could not be more proud of the fight that Chance and Everleigh put up or be more heartbroken that both of our wonderful babies have been taken from us.  We believe that they were both just too beautiful for this world. 

We treasured every second that we had with our twins and even though they were only with us for such a very short time they changed our lives forever.




I want to thank my incredible wife for these precious gifts that she gave to me.  For the all too brief time that we were all together my heart was full.  I would be completely lost without you.

    I am so proud of you guys and your bravery. I can see how proud your families are of you, too. Facing what you've faced has formed a bond between the two of you that will never be broken. Derek, to see the way you have comforted Karin through this whole thing, kissing her head, stroking her hair, touching her face and completely embracing her, is so touching and makes us all feel she will be okay with you by her side. I know each of you will be the other's rock. Both of you have such incredible families and support that it makes you wonder how anyone could get through something like this without that. You both are so loved, and Everleigh and Chance are with you every step of the way. My deepest, heartfelt sympathies to you both and to your families.
